The Paddy Wagon by Tom Daniel
This Paddy Wagon model was issued and released in 1968 by Monogram in 1:24 scale size. This was followed up by a 1:64 scale toy die-cast Hot Wheels car and later on a real show car was created.

There oughtta be a law! The Paddy Wagon is so groovy, so loaded with swingin' goodies, it makes you want to get busted...just so's you can ride in it.

Designed for Monogram by that way out rod stylist, Tom Daniel, the fugitive from East Los Angeles. This "Fuzzmobile" is powered by a wild, fully modified Cobra mill.

Cab interior combines custom and antique and passenger compartment has authentic wood benches contrasted by red padded walls. And check those wide, wide Goodyear slicks on mag wheels, authentic police globes, cycle fenders plus an old-time "Pot" helmet, night stick.

Has anyone ever noticed the lettering on the front grill? Yes there really is something there and you can make this out on the model kit. However, this is quite unnoticeable on the Hot Wheels version although it is there.
Tom's Inspiration:
One of the all-time classics designs - designed by a "Paddy"... which is slang for "Irish". Old-time police wagons were called "Paddy Wagons", probably because most cops in those days WERE Irish. I'm very happy that we finally got the two cop figures: Fogarty & O'Reiley included in the Limited Edition kit a few years back. Those hand painted figures are beautifully done. The Paddy Wagon must be approaching the sales of Red Baron by now.

This Paddy Wagon model kit became so popular that Monogram decided collector cards of this model should be released and included in the kit!
The description on the card is priceless!
"This "Fuzzmobile" is powered by a wild, fully modified Cobra mill. So "Fuzzmobile" could have been the project name or the nickname for the Paddy Wagon. Way too cool!
Here is another built Paddy Wagon model...
Quite the stunning design!
Another rendition of the kit in blue
Such attention to detail and it even looks impressive in white with the gold trimmings.
And then we have this work of art!
But hold on a moment here. Carl Casper also made a Paddy Wagon model kit and the real deal. It was released the same year 1968 as Tom Daniel's design. What a coincidence!
This one is quite beautiful to admire.

Tom Daniel's Paddy Wagon Show Car!
The Tom Daniel Paddy Wagon model kit inspired some to make his designs a reality.
What he thought was a cool concept car turned out to be an amazing looking show car!
Great looking interior!
There were others as well who felt inspired by this model kit and so more were made...
And there was more...
What a stunning looking model!
And then there was the Hot Wheels version....to be continued...
Paddy Wagon
Debut Series 1970 Hot Wheels
Produced 1970 - 1983 (Original Casting)
1993 - 2012 (Retool)
Designer Tom Daniels (Original Car)
Howard Rees (Hot Wheels Version)
Number 6402
This casting the Paddy Wagon has been re-released since 1970, in 3 different years 1973, 1977, and 1993. Then in 2009 the name changed to Copper Stopper.
This was first issued in 1970 in an enamel dark blue color. Similar to the infamous model kit that started it all.
There are some prototypes floating around in light blue, an orange, once noticed a speculative green and a pink. There are some strange prototype tops which have surfaced as well. More on all this later...
Here are some pics of the Paddy Wagon presented by our friend Hot Wheels Wiki

The Hot Wheels engineers were testing the casting imperfections and a paint run of light blue was used on this model. Quite a handful of these have survived and surface from time to time. Perhaps an orange run was done as well since one was noticed with a matching top. Are there others? Time will tell.
